PROJECT DESCRIPTION
As preparation we did research on silk farming for Kenya. There is a huge potential for our MMH farmer communities/ cooperatives in Bungoma and Uasin Gishu county. We have: access to farmers, support of local NGOs, land and good contact addresses to get silk eggs /maulberry trees seedlings. We know potential buyers in Kenya. Now we look for a person with business development skills to develop a concrete action plan (e.g. calculations of minimum viable production, process needs together with local NGO partners, identification of promotional material /training sessions for the farmers, initial costs, break even calculation, timeline, risk management). After setting up the project plan with all components the concrete implementation could start from 2024 onwards. Onsite visit is possible.
Project Objectives
- project and action plan for silk farming in Bungoma county
- supply chain and local silk buyer identification
